Film: The Lego Movie

GENRE: Animated Action Comedy
RATING: G for mild action
RUNTIME: 1 hour and 40 minutes
STARRING: Chris Pratt (Parks & Recreation, Moneyball )
Elizabeth Banks (Hunger Games), Will Ferrell (Anchorman)
DIRECTORS: Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (21 Jump Street)
WRITERS: Lord & Miller (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs)
PLOT: A seemingly ordinary Lego figure is mistakenly thought to be the savior of the Lego universe.

FIVE OBSERVATIONS:
1 If I had to describe this movie I would have to say it’s like Toy Story on Red Bull. Great nostalgia and clever jokes mixed with crazy fast action and meta-humour. Brilliant.
2 Everything is awesome. Big kudos go to Pratt who is perfectly cast as the voice of Emmet. His happy cluelessness is infectious and fun.
3 I loved the message of using creativity instead of always following the instructions.
4 While this is a fantastic film for both adults and kids alike. I do think that it is more for boys than for young girls. I’m sure there are exceptions to this theory though.
5 Spaceship!

RECOMMENDATION: See in the theatre, 3D not needed
UPCOMING REVIEWS: RoboCop
